Prefer to sew your own covers?

Buy the Frame + Foam + Fiber option on the unit page - it includes everything except the fabric covers. (This is ~$130+ less than units with fabric.)

Then purchase $45 sewing patterns for the units you choose.

We send printed patterns so you can sew covers using the fabric you love.

Built for modular living

Any unit connects to every unit.

Seats, wide seats, corners, arms, ottomans — everything connects.

For visual consistency, we recommend choosing one back style (e.g., all fiber pillow backs or all foam backs). Functionally, both styles work with the same frames and connectors.

You can change layouts, expand, or reconfigure without replacing what you already own.

  • STEP 1

    Connecting arms to units

    Arms are pre-threaded, so the connector bolts screw directly into the frame.

    • One bolt connects at the front of the unit
    • One bolt connects at the back of the unit

    Once tightened, the arm locks firmly into place and stays aligned.

  • STEP 2

    Connecting units to units

    To connect one seating unit to another:

    • A connector bolt passes through one unit
    • A nut secures it on the opposite side

    This creates a tight, stable connection that keeps units flush and prevents movement during everyday use — even with kids, pets, or frequent rearranging.

  • STEP 3

    Connecting ottomans to units

    Ottomans use the same connector bolt system and can attach to the sides of units only (not the front like a chaise, although you're welcome to DIY that!).

    They ship as standalone pieces, with instructions included if you’d like to connect them.

Fit the precision-cut frame pieces together

Assemble the base. Assemble the back. Slide the back onto the base. Secure with included screws. (T-connectors are pre-installed.)

Put the fabric covers on the frame

It's a tight fit, intentionally. That keeps a neat aesthetic.

Put fabric covers on the seat cushion and back pillow (or foam)

Squeeze. Squish. Step on it (seriously — it helps to get the pillow all the way to the edges).

Connect units to make your final layout

Units secure together with a simple yet solid connector bolt system.

Dogs chew. Cushions wear. Life gets lived.

Wear, tear, or accidents happen

If a cushion gets damaged — or you just want your couch to feel brand new again — you can replace just the cushion. If a frame piece ever breaks, you can order that individual frame component and swap it in.

Because you assembled the couch yourself, you already know how it goes together — which makes repairs straightforward. Buy the part you need. Not a whole new couch. This is why Built Best couches last longer than traditional sofas.

  • Need to Change Your Order? It happens. Maybe you need a corner instead of an arm — or want a different fabric. Here's how changes work.

    Change fees

    • Free within 24 hours
    • $100 within 2–5 days (fabric cutting has started)
    • $200 after 5 days (your order is in final stages)

    How to request a change
    Email us as soon as possible at support@builtbest.com with your order number and the change you'd like to make. We'll take a look and let you know what's possible.

  • No need to replace the couch.

    When you're ready for a refresh, simply order new fabric covers in a different color or fabric.

    Same couch. New look.

  • That's easy.

    If you want to switch from fiber pillows to foam backs (or vice versa), you don't need new frames.

    Just purchase:

    • New back pillows or foam inserts
    • Matching fabric covers in the new style

    Your existing frames, seat cushions, connector bolts, and hardware stay the same.

30 days from delivery in original boxes. You pay return shipping + 15% processing fee. No surprises.

Prefer not to ship it back?

Donate your sectional to a local charity instead. We’ll send over the simple documentation we need. Your refund is issued once it’s approved, minus the 15% processing fee.

Worth knowing

Trial seat cushions, fabric covers, foam replacements, fiber pillow replacements, and swatches aren’t returnable.
